How to Clean Your Dentures

Cleaning your dentures daily is crucial for maintaining their attractive appearance and overall oral health. Neglecting this routine can lead to plaque buildup, which dulls the shine of your dentures. Regular cleaning also helps prevent staining, unpleasant odors, irritation, and potential infections.

Here are a few simple tips:
1. Protect Your Dentures: Dentures can break easily, so always fill the sink with water before cleaning them. This will cushion them if they slip from your hands.

2. Rinse After Meals: Rinse your dentures and mouth with cool or warm water after each meal. Avoid using boiling water as it can distort your dentures.

3. Use the Right Cleaning Tools: Clean your dentures with liquid soap and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Avoid using regular toothpaste, bleach, vinegar, or harsh soaps unless advised by your dental professional.

4. Thorough Rinsing: Rinse your dentures thoroughly under tap water to remove all soap or cleaning paste residues.

5. Disinfection: Before bedtime, soak your dentures in a suitable cleanser, such as Polident.(Please refer to the cleanser instruction)

6. Soak Overnight: Soak your denture in a container with clean cold water. (Don’t sleep with dentures in the mouth)

7. Morning Routine: In the morning, brush your gums, tongue, and palate with a soft-bristled toothbrush to remove plaque and stimulate circulation. Then, reinsert your dentures.

8. Extra Freshness: For an added fresh feeling, rinse your mouth with a mouthwash.
